Mr. Yang Jie attended the 27th Harvard China Forum Winter Dinner [2024-01-17]
To promote people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States, the 27th Harvard China Forum Winter Dinner was held in Beijing. Mr. Yang Jie, Secretary General of American General Business Association, attended and shared the latest international capital and listing trends with guests and Harvard students. Since its inception in 1997, the Harvard China Forum has become one of the theme forums between China and the United States, building a bridge of exchanges between China and the United States.


Zeng Yuqi and Pan Jialong, co-chairmen of the 27th Harvard Forum in China, delivered welcoming remarks. Mr. Chang Qide, the UN Resident Coordinator in China, who is experienced in the fields of international cooperation, sustainable development, peace and security, said in his speech that China provides an example for other developing countries to learn from. China's influence is on the rise, and the cogs of fate have placed China on a special mission and responsibility. It then delves into the multiple challenges facing the world today, including climate change, public health, conflict, food security, and rising inequality, underscoring the urgent need to reinvigorate multilateralism.


Wu Renying, director of the Fairfair Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University and Henry L. Stimson Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, expressed that the world needs cooperation and mutual understanding between the two major powers. Even if there are differences in interests, there is still a need for rational understanding and resolution of various issues.


Wang Yi, executive director of Harvard Shanghai Center, said that the resumption of normal academic exchanges between China and the United States is very important at this special stage. In the autumn of 2023, a number of Harvard professors will visit Shanghai, looking forward to more Harvard professors and school leaders to promote exchanges and cooperation with Chinese universities and research institutions. Get back to pre-pandemic as soon as possible.


Mr. Yang Jie expressed his expectation and confidence for the resumption of people-to-people and academic exchanges between China and the United States. In the middle of 2023, China will be actively listed in the United States, and through IPO and SPAC, more than 40 high-quality enterprises have been successfully listed on the main board of the United States. The exchange of economic, academic and cultural feelings between China and the United States is very important, and the relationship between the two major powers of competition and cooperation is also constantly promoted.
